The Swinging 60s

With a complete change of silhouette, the 1960s was characterised by box-shaped PVC dresses and go-go boots. As well as this, the bikini became very popular in 1963 after being featured in the musical, "Beach Party". Soon after, in 1964, Mary Quant tried experimenting with much shorter designs of skirts and the mini-skirt was born. This changed not only fashion, but art and design forever.

Inspiration taken from the 60s mod can be found in nearly every high fashion magazine such as Vogue, Elle and Harpers bazaar, being worn by top celebrities and models all over the world. Top designers such as Miu Miu, Prada, chanel, Derek Lam and D&G have reinvented the 1960s mod look by using darker, heavier fabrics such as black leather, but still keeping with the box-shaped silhouette.
